EXP 2: PROGRESS, WEEK 6

WEEK 6 LECTURE:

In this weeks lecture it was interesting to see different materials and how they erode overtime. It was interesting to learn about how safety glass shatters.I wanted to add graffiti into my model, however since my project is underwater, realistically it would dissolve off the concrete. Therefore, graffiti plays no significant role in  my project.

Demonstrating the notion of decay:

I added a fungi, moss type material onto my wood textures, which gives it a more rough, disgusting texture in CryEngine.

Before & After:

I also went back to Crazy bump and made the intensity of all my textures more intense, so that it would look more bumpy in the game engine.
I moved the shattered pieces inwards, and outwards to give a 3D effect. I like the shadows that it casts.

EXP 2: PROGRESS, WEEK 5

TEXTURES: (out of water)
The building should be underwater, however I lowered the water level to show my textures.
I think i might make them darker, and give the bump maps more depth.

EXP 2: 4 VIDEOS

WEEK 5 LECTURE:

In this weeks lecture, the things that stood out to me were Robert Polidori's photo of the car after the flood.  The striped patterning on the car was interesting, how it blended with the house's facade, Perhaps I should make the water in my level only cover half  of the building. It was also interesting to see the absurdity of abandoned places, and how random objects are left in random places, with no context behind it. It makes the viewer create their own version of what happened. This lead me to think that I should barricade the doorway.

5 VIDEOS:

1.Although this isn't trailer, it is very influential on my project because of the murkiness of the water, and the textures of the decayed materials.   I also like the slow pace of the video.

2.The architecture at the beginning of the video is interesting, the structures are still standing, and covered in moss.

3. This trailer is demonstrative when considering textures. The Music also sets the tone very well, also the camera angles/scenes match the music.

4. I like the juxtaposition of what the audeience sees and hears. The music becomes comedic, as it doesn't suit the thrill of the visuals. This shows how music can change the mood of a trailer.

5. Even though this isn't a trailer, or movie, but a music video, I like the awkward camera angles, and transition from moving shots to still shots. This will influence the video i make when representing my project.
